In keeping with Unisoft’s long standing policy of ensuring its key applications are kept up to date with current developments within the specialities, we made a commitment to the NHSIA back in June 2004 to support fully the LUCADA project.
As a result Version 6 of the Lung Cancer Management System was released in September 2004. Version 6 contains a new button labelled LUCADA and also includes a routine for uploading the LUCADA data into the national system.
The screen behind the LUCADA button is similar to that behind the Cancer Waiting Time button. The LUCADA screen contains the 83 data items in the dataset and, where possible, automatically populates those fields with data already captured in the fundamental components of LCMS. In fact, those linked fields are shown in blue and those unique to the LUCADA project are in red.
At any time, a proforma LUCADA report can be printed for any given patient. The report includes any data already captured and lists those items still to be collected.
When a patient's LUCADA data is saved, a quick check is made to see if there is sufficient information and that the rules have been met, which will allow the record to be "flagged for export" to the National system. If not, a dialogue box explains exactly what is missing or which rules have been breached.
Version 6 is being shipped to all hospitals with current paid up maintenance agreements. Initially the LUCADA button will display the data in read-only mode, and the upload capability will be disabled, The LUCADA functionality is easily enabled in one phone call for those hospitals who pay a nominal amount to have this feature enabled.
Evaluation copies of Version 6 with the LUCADA screen are now available, please contact Unisoft on 0208 367 2103.
